Elementary School Opportunities

Stone Soup welcomes submissions from around the world by writers and artists ages 13 and younger. All submissions must come to us via Submittable. We do not accept submissions by email or by post.

Writings (essays, stories, letters to the editor, riddles and proverbs, etc.) should be typed or neatly handwritten and limited to 1,000 words and poems up to 30 lines. We encourage writings in all languages with an English translation, if possible. And, we love illustrations! Please send originals of your drawings, paintings, or photos to our post office box address below. Include your name, age, and address along with your submission. We welcome electronic submissions as well. We prefer Word.doc. or .docx.files or text.edit files. Art and photos can be sent as .jpeg or .tiff files. Please DO NOT send us zip.files.

We accept writing from young people, 6-18 years old, from anywhere around the world. We do not have translation services, and so we currently only publish in the English language and a second language. We are open for submissions year around. Poems must be no longer than 40 lines. Prose must be no longer than 750 words. We are NOT accepting multiple submissions at this time.
We are NOT accepting writing from school assignments at this time.

You can submit Fiction Stories (up to 2,000 words), Non-Fiction articles (you may also include pictures or art with your article for our various non-fiction columns such as: Cook Nook, SciTech Kids, Amazing Kids! Adventures, or Global Village), LOL (Laugh Out Loud), Poems, and Reviews. We only accept kid-friendly content for our publication. Please keep in mind that our main audience is 8-12 year olds when submitting work.
